There was a rumor that the underappreciated son Nansen Field in the Field family was so cranky and batty that he drove some of the servants crazy. Jennifer Green, who wanted to have a family, married into the Field family in place of her elder sister and warmed Nansen's frozen heart. Until one day, when Jennifer drank a glass of wine drugged by someone, the business legend Nick Finger, forcefully took her away. Inside the suite, Jennifer struggled fiercely, "Get off me! Nick Finger! My husband will kill you!” Nick whispered Jennifer’s nickname in her ears that only Nansen knew. Who is he? The Poor Nansen Field? Or the king of the business world Nick Finger? ...... "Nansen Field lost his parents when he was ten years old, and three years later, he lost his grandfather and was disfigured because of a big fire, so he had a queer temper and did not like people who talked too much..." said John, the housekeeper of the Field family.

After hearing what he said, Jennifer became more and more panicked with her fingers clutching her clothes, "I see."

Since she and Nansen got married, Jennifer had decided to lead a better life with him.

And in a certain sense, both Nansen and she were poor people. She lost her mother in her early years and was raised in the Green family where she gained no love.

Standing outside the door and thinking that the person inside was her husband, Jennifer's heart was beating fast.

Not that she was shy, but she was not sure about her future. However, she still looked forward to it.

Jennifer took deep breaths and made mental preparation before meeting him. She knocked on the door and said with a smile, "Excuse me, I am your wife, Jennifer Green. Can I come in?"

No one answered so Jennifer had to twist the handle to open the door...

The room was all in darkness and Jennifer couldn't see anything.

An inexplicable sense of fear struck and Jennifer trembled slightly. She bit her lower lip and said again in a low voice, "Excuse me, I am your wife, Jennifer Green..."

"What is your purpose of marrying me?"

In the darkness, hearing a hoarse male voice, Jennifer felt scared.

Her hands unconsciously clutched her clothes and she said, "I am the illegitimate child of the Green family, and my mother died when I was little. If you ask me why I marry you..."

Jennifer laughed at herself and said in earnest, "That's because I want to have a family, and I want to be loved by my family."

"Family? Love?"

Nansen sneered with a cold voice, "It's useless to be soft with me!"

She shook her head vigorously and said, "No! You misunderstand me. I hope you can give me a chance to take care of you. After all, I don't know what I should do now and I am indeed homeless without you."

Jennifer thought that the way Nansen had been raised would make him a wary and suspicious man. She had to be one hundred percent patient and honest to win his heart.

Sitting on the armchair, Nansen wanted to tease Jennifer, so he turned on the floor lamp with a dim light.

Nansen sat against the light, and Jennifer couldn't see his face clearly, only his rough features.

"Come here," Nansen said.

Jennifer closed the door without hesitation and walked toward him with sincerity.

Seeing the stick beside his armchair, Jennifer guessed that Nansen could not walk normally so she thoughtfully squatted down in front of Nansen and looked up at him.

Nansen pinched Jennifer's jaw with his scarred hand and Jennifer gasped because of the pain.

The light shone down from above Nansen's head, so Jennifer couldn't see his face clearly.

Then Nansen slowly approached her, and Jennifer could see his face covered with burn scars.

She was surprised by that...

He smiled badly, waiting to see her scream and run away in fear...

"Does it still hurt?" Jennifer asked him with care.

Nansen froze when he heard Jennifer's soft voice. He totally did not expect her reaction!
